[ When the video comes on, it's shaking. Once Crowley stabilizes it, it's clear that he'a sweaty and his eyes are bloodshot.

He opens his mouth to speak and lurches forward a little before righting himself.

It seems... that John Blake is gone.

[ This time when he lurches, the device drops, but he seems to have forgotten about it. The video shows the ceiling and then there's the sound of a drink being poured nearby, followed by a clipped curse. ]

Wonderland.

[ A nod in greeting, no more or less warm than usual (as usual happens to be uncommon in this case). His last public address had been in a prior year — an enthusiastic explanation of baseball — and in the time since, nothing has changed, not actually changed. ]

Name's John. Ah, Blake to most of you, but Robin John Blake if we're bein' proper. I've been here for— [ A puff of air, a shake of his head. He's still twenty-nine, hasn't aged a day since his arrival, but there's no staving off the way turmoil has done what time cannot. ] Well, I can't accurately say, but it's been years. Lifetimes in some cases — always enjoyed those kinda events — but on actual days I can count as bein' here, it's over three years.

I don't— [ A pause. He was once personable — trained to be — but so much of that has worn down to this personality of half-measure, a ghost of what once was. ] Tryin' to explain, so bear with me, but I don't think... I don't think I'm goin' home. [ He breathes in, lets it out slowly. ] And that's what I want, so I'm okay with it.

Some part of me is always gonna be here. Mean that in the most technical sense, 'cause this place has taken from me — memories and who knows what else. Figure even if I go home-go home it's gonna be true, that I'm still gonna be here.

So... that's my big announcement. I'm here to stay. By any means necessary, I think. [ His smile is rueful. ] Groundbreakin', I know; a blip of Wonderland's vast radar screen. But it also gives me an opportunity to say I'm retirin' too. From my life of crime fightin'. Won't make much of a diff'rence here 'cause that's not really what I do, but it'll make a diff'rence in me, I think.

[ Blake shrugs, rubs at the small amount of stubble that's shadowing his chin. ]

Anyway, if anyone wants to celebrate or whatever, I'll be 'round the bar in a bit.

therapize: (so let's approach it this way)
[personal profile] therapize
[Have you seen the inside of the therapy office before Wonderland? Because you're getting a good shot of it now, featuring the owner of this particular room.]

Good morning, Wonderland. Since it's been awhile, and we're just coming off the heels of a rather chaotic event, I thought i'd introduce myself. My name is Cami O'Connell, and I am the therapist in residence here in Wonderland. An officially licensed therapist at that, thanks to a trip home a couple of months ago.

[She's got a degree and everything now. Clearly she's a force to be watched out for.]

For those of you unfamiliar with the concept of psychological therapy, the idea is to work through mental issues in order to help alleviate or lessen their effects. This could be anything, from a traumatic loss to guilt over something you've done, to trying to deal with whatever hell Wonderland has put you through. It's often a slow process that takes dedication and time, but one that can be immensely helpful if people are willing to see it through.

[As so many people in Wonderland have failed to do. And that's half the reason why she's making this broadcast; too many people have been one-time visitors before they retreated into their own shells of denial.]

Of course, therapy doesn't work for everyone; that's just a fact. But the problems you've got right now, the secret things you don't want to face because they're all just too much and you think that if you try they'll swallow you whole? They aren't going to go away if you just ignore them. They'll linger, and they'll fester, and then Wonderland will do what it always does by sparking some event that makes that trauma even worse.

Trust me. I've been here long enough to see it, and to have it happen to me too.

[She pauses then; hopefully she's gotten some people's attention with the speech this time.]

One other benefit to the process is that it is entirely confidential. I will not divulge anything you tell me when you come to see me as a patient, unless you or someone else is at risk of harm. No one will even know you've talked to me at all.

So if you're interested, if you think that there's the slightest chance that talking to someone may do you some good? Come by the office in room 20 on the sixth floor. If the door is closed, write your name on a piece of paper and slide it under the door, and I'll get in touch. Or you can respond to this broadcast, and we can arrange a time to meet.

[She looks directly at the phone now, directly at the people watching this. Hopefully, it manages to reach them.]

Wonderland is not an easy place to live in. And while you can learn how to shoot a gun or to defend yourself physically, the biggest toll it takes on all of us is an emotional and psychological one. So why not strengthen yourself there to?

[A heartbeat longer, and Cami reaches to turn off the video. After that, it's just a matter of waiting for people to show up, or for her phone to ring.

But while she does spend a good chunk of her day in the office, after certain replies she ends up fielding? By that evening Cami is more than happy to abandon talking to people in favor of hitting up the bar. Not that she'll reject anyone who tries to approach her there; it's just that the therapist is out for the evening, thanks, so please stop complaining about her life's work now so she can drink in peace.]

[A blonde comes on the screen, barely holding everything together. She didn't find the information she needed at the library, so now she was willing to make her presence known. Maybe the demon would appear to her so she could question him. It was all she knew to do at this point.]

Hello, I seem to have woken up here...wherever here is.

My name is Mary Winchester and I'm looking for whoever brought me here. I have a few questions for them, most notably, where the hell are my children.

[She was upset now and needed her babies. She needed to know they were safe. John could take care of himself and would understand why she wasn't asking for him.]

I'll be in the music room, come and find me with any information you have. My babies had better be safe.

[The church had disappeared. Somehow, in her waiting, Lilith had fallen asleep and awoke in a strange garden, surprised and confused at how she had been apprehended so easily. This wasn't Heaven, the angels wouldn't interrupt her plans or avert the apocalypse. Everyone wanted it, except for the Winchesters (but who cares what they want?)

So then where was she? How did she get there? It was almost pitiful that she had been surprised...

...and pitiful was not something she could accept.]

And to have it not happen just because she's here, when she doesn't know why, or for how long, or what this place wants out of her is maddening.]

I feel like I'm waiting for someone to flip the switch and send me back to my life. And I don't know whether to want that because it's mine or to want this because it could always be worse.

[Bela is standing in front of the camera, dressed in pants and shirt and a brown leather jacket-rather common clothing considering the eclectic pile of clothes behind her. If anyone cares for those kind of details they'll see a wide arrangement of clothing, from suits to cocktail dresses to waitress uniforms and even a maid costume.]

So. The closet? It's a very nice touch, I have to admit. I certainly wouldn't mind having one back home. Though seemingly free food, board, and clothing just means there's a hidden cost. So what is our benevolent caretaker charging us?

And what becomes valuable in a place like this? Is there a currency in particular items? Favors? Souls? [And there's a wry smile there to indicate that might possibly be a joke.]

Or does everyone here work on altruism?

Action A: Wandering Wonderland
[Not one to idly sit when her surroundings are so undiscovered, and therefore a little bit threatening, Bela takes to exploring the grounds with a casual step that belies just how uncomfortable she really feels. She can be found idly touching decor along the walls of the mansion, or grabbing something to eat in the dining room, or eyeing the titles of books in the library even if she doesn’t actually reach for any right now.

[ooc: This is your find her wandering anywhere you want to option.]

Action B: An unlocked room is an invitation.
[After exploring the more open grounds, Bela can be found roaming the hallways. It’s a seemingly innocent gesture by itself, except for the subtle jiggle of a handle here and there as she moves about. Just her way of...well, casing the place. Not that she’s planning on stealing anything quite yet, but she’ll feel more comfortable once she’s got a good map of the surroundings and people around her since it doesn’t seem like she’ll be leaving very soon.

Occasionally, when she finds an unlocked door, she casually opens it just to get a good idea of the room-and on the occasion that someone is actually in their room without bothering to lock the door, well, she smiles sheepishly and offers an embarrassed apology.]

Oh, I’m sorry. I have the wrong room. [Ignore the subtle sweep around the room before she tries to retreat.]

Action C: A locked one is just a challenge.
[She’s good. For a while. But after finding so many empty and unlocked rooms, she’s a little curious to see what’s inside a locked one. And just as curious to see how easy it is to pick a lock on these particular doors.

So she chooses a random one in a rather quiet hallway, listens near the door for any tell-tale sign of shuffling, and when she thinks she’s in the clear, she kneels down and jimmies the lock, before pushing the door open. If there’s no immediate reaction, she’ll take a step inside. Just a quick scouting mission, don’t worry, she’s not here to steal anything.]

[The woman who pops onto the screen? She doesn't look at all pleased. She's disheveled and incredibly sore, but at least she's been able to have a shower since things have returned to normal. She'd woken up in her own bed, having muddied up the sheets -- so, okay, she's still pretty annoyed.

Still, it had occurred to her that she'd done something a little bit irresponsible the night before. It had been motivated by anger, certainly, but it isn't as if she'd killed the man -- still, she needs to get it off her chest and just make sure that he's -- you know, still alive.

She clears her throat.]

Uh, all right -- this message is especially for Alistair, or for anyone from his world -- now that this thing is working again.

I was attacked in the forest last night by someone accusing me of being a demon, so I thought that you guys might know him. I knocked him out and left him tied up outside the tavern, so I don't know where he'd be now.

[She scowls.]

And just to clear it up for anyone who might be wondering ... I'm not a demon.

[She motions to her hair.]

I mean, do you see a set of pointy horns? I have no interest in your immortal soul, okay? So further attempts to end me? Not going to be dealt with so gently.

[It's a bit of posturing since she's never actually killed anyone, but...they don't need to know that.]

[When Alice appears on the screen today, she's bobbing up and down in excitement with the widest smile – even without eyes to accompany it. Curiously, for those who have never met Alice before, her gaze always goes to the camera somehow, even though by all accounts she should not be able to see it.]

Everyone! I've thought of the most marvelous riddle and simply had to share it immediately! So many of you are much smarter than I am, and I'm certain you'll come up with an answer easily.

Hm... [She brings a hand to her chin and frowns in thought.] Now, how did it go again? I think it was..."If there's something in the forest, and no one's ever seen it, how do they know it's—" --no, that's not quite right, is it? Someone who's seen it obviously told them and that isn't much of a riddle at all. Maybe it was...maybe it was "If everyone's scared of a beast in the forest, but no one's ever seen the beast, is it truly a beast at all"? Hmm...I don't think it was.

[Alice scratches her temple, frustrated that she's lost the correct wording to her absolutely fantastic riddle.]

Perhaps it wasn't so marvelous after all. [She shrugs. Eh. Over it.] Oh well. Everyone knows who you are is much more important than the sort of riddles you tell. So, let's do that instead!

Tell me Wonderland - who are all of you today? That ought to be much more curious than some riddle.

[When the screen flicks on, Bobby casts an irritated glance up down the brim of his hat to the little camera on his phone. He lets out a puff of air and sucks briefly on his teeth.]

Sam, Dean? I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume that one or both of your asses got something to do with me showing up in -- wherever the hell this is, aside from not Heaven or Hell -- and that you've got a real good reason for not even having the decency to give a fellow a call before you rip him out of his nice, comfy afterlife.

[He pauses for a moment in his speech, the shifting background behind him revealing that he's now moving (from the kitchen to the bedrooms area, for anyone with a good eye for that sort of thing), and that he's got an armful of supplies with him. It isn't too long until he turns a corner to an empty bedroom and closes the door with a click, setting the phone down onto the nearest table and pouring a generous line of salt from the box he'd gotten from the kitchen down in front of the threshold of the door. Then he leans over the phone again.]

[ the last time dean had addressed wonderland, he’d been all leery smiles and compliments— with a set of nice inky eyes, too, that is. today finds him in entirely different mood, face set to a carefully guarded neutral expression, as he sits by a table somewhere within his own room. fingers drum a steady beat against the wooden surface, the only cue that not all may be as well as he’d like for it to appear. ]

Now that we’re all done hating each other, I got a small refresher as far as our feathery ranks in Wonderland go. Looks like Cas — uh, Castiel — has fluttered off back home, leaving this place without any flying nerds to bark about Heaven. [ which should be great, sure. but it was cas, and anyone who knows anything about dean also knows how much said nerdy little dude meant to him.

it’s as if that very thought crosses his mind, too, as his sets his jaw into a harder line some seconds later, then attempts to brush off the topic. ]

He didn’t have a lot of stuff, perks of wearing Heaven’s badge, but it turns out he did have this. [ the feed drops a little lower on the desk, where placed neatly right in front of dean is the first blade. the drumming intensifies, but dean firmly keeps his hands away from it— hell, he doesn’t even look at it. ]

[ Sam Winchester seems distracted. More than that, he seems like something is on his mind in the way that a distant buzzing sound is on your mind, or a crying baby on the subway, or a tiny, pulsing headache that you can't shake. When he speaks, his brow twitches and his voice is... careful. A little too even-toned. ]

Okay, so last time I was on here, I brought up how to ward off demons. But that stuff is for when there's... I don't know, a local murderer, or a crazy event, and you're in danger. I guess I didn't make it totally clear that you shouldn't be looking for demons. Don't call them up or summon them. I won't go into all the details, but the ones we know are from literal Hell and that's where you'll go after you're done dealing with them. Trust me, it's not Club Med.

So, uh, one more time for the people in the back; don't make deals with demons. Christ, I thought that'd be obvious, but it seems like it happens a lot around here. Whatever they promise you, they're not your fairy godmother, and you pay back with your soul in the end.

[when the video feed opens, April is wearing a super lame witches hat the closet coughed up from an after sale at Spirit: The Halloween Store and a black dress. She's holding a broom.]

Hey Wonderland-ers, guess what? It's September, which means it's almost October, which means you're running out of time to plan for Halloween.

For those of you that come from some lame world that doesn't know what Halloween is: basically it's a night where we celebrate the gifts that Satan and his circle of whore-witches have given to us throughout the year by dressing up as creepy monsters, giving poisonous candy to children, and murdering people to drink their blood and offer it in His name.

[she smiles!!!! and then laughs]

Blood orphans.

[then she frowns, as if remembering something from home. give her a minute, and then she's back to your once in a lifetime chance to see april "happy"]

Anyway, obviously, some people don't have to dress up because they're already scary monsters, but, like, if they want to dress up as someone else, too, that's cool. As your supreme leader, I delegate myself as official Halloween Party Queen, and making this claim over a month in advance, so don't try to hold a cooler party than me -- [she stares into the camera meaningfully] That means you, especially, Wonderland. I will not be outstaged!

If anyone wants to, uh, help, I guess? Leave you name and preferred Wonderland-Halloween-Squad position here on this post.

As I'm certain you are all abundantly aware, Wonderland plucks residents from a number of different times and places. While the vast majority are from the "modern" oh, I do loathe that word era - which I am choosing to classify as the year 1990 and the decades immediately following it - there are many others from time periods who have had considerably rougher transitions.

[Herself included. Radio and moving pictures were familiar to her at the time, which made it somewhat easier to comprehend the video function on her transmitter, although the "live" aspect was rather revolutionary. Others are not so lucky: hardships with privacy settings, sending and receiving missives, using outrageously complicated kitchen equipment...]

It has come to my attention that these particular individuals, current and future, could do with a technological and etymological guide. I am in the process of writing one for the benefit of those having trouble with foreign terms and contraptions.

Strange, given that he's an angel and doesn't require sleep, but this is a different kind of fatigue.

He doesn't waste any time, simply gets right to the point of this announcement, facing his phone's screen head-on.]

Dean Winchester has been cured.

[No doubt there are those who won't take his word for it, and so he's quick to elaborate.] I have senses that go beyond the five that most of you are familiar with, and there is no trace of any demonic presence in him now. [Even then, he expects that some won't believe him, but when they see Dean for themselves, chances are that any of their doubts will drop away.

Now comes the hard part. Castiel draws a breath in and lets it out, girding himself.]

I know that there are many of you who want revenge, but Dean was not himself in the time since his return. He was tainted, and that taint has been removed. [And here, his expression shifts from weary to something harder. His jaw clenches and he stares, unblinking.] If you have complaints to air, you can take them up with me. Dean is in no state to hear them right now.

[Working through the guilt of so many friends and family killed by his hands, even if he hadn't been in control of them at the time -- it's going to be a while before Dean will be able to face anyone. Until then, Castiel is willing to take the brunt of the righteous anger that might directed toward him.]

Believe me, he's already punishing himself enough. [There are those here who might not realize just how self-hating Dean Winchester can be. Whatever they might want to say to him, he's already said it to himself in a hundred different ways. If Castiel can spare him some of that, then he'll gladly do so.

The camera is too close to give a view on where he is posting this message from, or whether there's anyone with him. He's not stupid. But nor is he locking this away from Dean. He knows what he's done.]

Dean Winchester, or whatever he is right now, murdered Jo Harvelle last night. He tried to kill Simon Lauchlan too, but that didn't stick, and he brutally injured Doctor Maxine Myers, just because she tried to help Jo.

He planned this. It was horrible and brutal and vicious and he'll do it again.

Stay together. Stay armed and ward your rooms if you can and don't think you can argue or bargain your way out of it. He's a monster and he's killing for fun. There's no talking to things like that.

Then, once he can get to his feet, he realizes he's been lying on his own bed, covered in blood (his own, probably) for some time. So he'd like to shower, get on fresh clothes, take another long period of staring at himself in the mirror, only faintly able to recall what it felt like to have his head beaten in by his own brother.

All he does, though, is slip the devil's trap handcuffs into his pockets, does a few stretches for the sake of doing something with his (living) body, and then pull up the network. ]

What the hell happened to my room?

[ It's a friggin' nightmare. It matched his corpse well enough, he guesses, but Sam isn't exactly in the mood for that kind of humor at the moment. ]

Oh, yeah. I'm alive. In one piece and everything. [ Tone: flat. Tired. ] And if you haven't figured it out yet, Dean's a demon, and he's probably trying to either kill or sleep with you, if you're talking to him. Or both. So don't do that.

[ Tone: flat. Tired. Very tired. ]

My room's, uh. Not my room, so I'll be mobile, but I've got holy water for people who want to piss him off. Generally I'd advise against, though, since he's pretty damn strong and is really into bashing people's heads in. Normal weapons don't do anything against demons, so, again, just avoid him like the plague. Which he basically is, right now.

[ ... ]

... Uh. Sorry to anyone who had to see me the other day. Like that.

[ It's late when Jeep makes this post. His room is dark except for a single lamp on the desk and from the camera angle it's easy to see sheets of paper scattered. All of it is covered in scribblings, notes that Jeep has been taking, there is a stack of books nearby on old languages. Going by both the multiple empty coffee mugs and his tired voice he hasn't slept in a while. ]

...I'm wonderin' if anyone here's any good with old languages. Really old ones.

It's a long shot but I figure if I'm in a place with people from other world's then maybe they might know somethin' I don't.

[ He sighs and rubs a hand over his face. ]

Hell, at this point I'm willin' to entertain any ideas. If you're any good with this kind of shit let me know.

About five months ago I asked about your worlds and how magic was involved. If you weren't here then we can get to that.

( It's all for science!! )

While it gave me something interesting to read it's only half of the story - or theory. Some worlds seem to run predominantly on magic, like here, but there are some worlds where magic doesn't appear to exist. I'm not going to get into a magic versus science debate but I would be interested in knowing the other side of the story.

And, as always, everything is private. Until there's results.
Where are you from?
When are you from?

Are you familiar with magic at home? (Not from stories)
If yes, is magic a secret or public knowledge?
If yes, does daily life use magic or science/technology more?

Were the kitchen appliances something you had seen before?
If no, what would you have used instead?
Do you consider the appliances advanced, common knowledge, or out-dated?

If someone were to contract an illness would your world be able to provide medicine/a vaccine, instantly cure them or other? (If other please explain)
Has science ever gone too far/wrong?
Obviously if you have other examples you can list them. It would be interesting to see how worlds are different even for people at the same time, and if anything did influence that change. Or if it could be useful here.

And if you did miss the last poll you can always fill that in too.
Where are you from?
When are you from?
Did you already know about:
    Magic?
    Supernatural creatures? ( e.g. nazi vampires )
    Other non-human things? ( e.g. gods )
    Portals?
    Resurrecting the dead?
    Reality altering?
    Alternate/pocket dimensions?

[When the feed begins, the camera is focused on a very small stage. After a moment or so of rustling, Alice appears.

...Or. Well. "Alice" appears.

Good day, everyone! I've got a spectacular show for you today! Yaaaaaaaaaaay! [And she flails her whole sock puppet body around wildly with excitement.] It's called the Tale of the HalloChrismasJabberganza! Enjoy the show!

Cut because it got pretty long. )

Well, that was particularly spectacular, even by Wonderland's standards.

[drier than the friggin' Sahara. and whether it's truly over or not, Gold has other issues on his mind.]

I thought we might be done with flesh-eating beasts after the Jabberwocky was felled, but clearly we required an encore. [and speaking of encores..]

Which brings me to my real point. Where I'm from, seeing the future or even knowing the future does not enable you to prevent it. Try as one might, the more you attempt to sort out the puzzle, the more the pieces tend to fall into place, precisely as they meant to. Bearing that in mind, I have to wonder if we've truly prevented the terrible future that was spoken of last year or if we've merely locked it into place.

Of course, Wonderland has never followed the rules any particular realm sets for magic. It picks and chooses as it wishes. Strange, isn't it? All these different worlds, all these different types of magic, and so many of these events hearkening back from our own worlds. It does make one wonder about the true nature of Wonderland.

[a brief pause] Something to think about.

I had to see this for myself.

[There had been a blond missing from Entranceway for a few days but now she was back and looking worse for wear. She was clutching at her side where an obvious wound was freshly seeping some bright crimson staining her white buttoned shirt and her gloves. Her face wasn't any better covered in blood but thankfully that wasn't hers. She had come from war and returned to this strange world. She had found the halls to the mansion familiar but it wasn't until she stood here on the roof looking at the world that she knew she was back in Wonderland.]

What they say is true, one does not remember a thing when they return to their world. No names. No faces. Keeping your word is useless here, whatever you come to experience here will be forgotten.

[Despite the seriousness of her face it's actually very alarming to the woman. She doesn't like the idea of forgetting what happened here, of the people she's met. She doesn't continue, instead she gives the communicator a worried look.]

Morbid, isn't it. What have I missed? Who is still here?
