[ video ]
[The video shows a smiling Elizabeth, who appears to be having a marvelous time. She's holding a paintbrush and there's remnants of colored paints all over her hands, face, clothes, and even hair.]
I'm having the most wonderful streak of inspiration! I don't know why, but I just can't stop! Who has time to eat and sleep when there's so much to paint!
For example, I've just finished a series of compositions based on some of our most lovely people here in Wonderland.
[She begins to hold up painting after painting of familiar faces.]
Aren't they great? But where will I put them all? Maybe I'll hang them around the mansion or perhaps the library.
[ooc: I fail at photoshop and making them look like paintings. So just pretend they're nice and based off the following, which I tried to manipulate a bit. The words after each are Elizabeth commenting on her work. XD]
D'artagnan - Oh, D'artagnan, he has the sweetest face! Don't you think? I hope he's doing alright.
Aramis - Isn't he just the most handsome man on the face of the earth?
Athos - Isn't Athos a dignified looking man?
Lindsey - Mr. Mcdonald is so calm and casual, he just puts me at ease. Next time, I'll paint him with a guitar!
Hannibal - Dr. Lecter is so utterly refined! What a gentleman!
You know what? I really need some friends who are girls!

Oh! Mr. Rogers, suddenly, I have a strong urge to paint you! With such a handsome physique, but such a gentle, boyish smile, I don't know why it didn't occur to me before!
[She is going to crawl into a cave when she comes to her senses and never come out.]
He smiles crookedly, chuckles to himself, but then nods slowly.] If you really want to, sure, why not? [Besides, then he could keep an eye on her.]
Did you want to meet up? Might help to have the real-life model as reference. [Steve had at one point been planning to join art school. He knows what it's like to be hit with inspiration, and also how much easier it is to draw from life.]
[Wow, he just made her day! But where would be a good spot? There's so many places she could choose.]
How about the front steps? The light should be good, and you hardly need a lot of backdrop.
[video] → [action]
[Steve assumes that Elizabeth will bring everything she needs to set up for painting, and if she forgets anything, it's not like a closet will be that far away.]
I'll see you there. [He ends the call and makes his way down to the first floor. He's wearing casual clothing, nothing too fancy, but hopefully that won't matter. He stands outside and stretches, waiting for Elizabeth to show.]
[video] → [action] woo!
Hello! I'm so excited! Thank you for letting me paint you.
[She hastily begins to set-up.]
[action]
Sure thing. Where did you want me?
[Steve takes a look around the general area. There's a bench nearby, that might work, but he waits for her assessment.] And after you're done, we should see about getting you a hot meal and some rest.
[action]
How about that bench?
[Seems they had the same idea.]
Just sit relaxed. You're very handsome in your natural state.
[All of this excitement over painting has her experiencing a looser tongue than usual. She is just showering people with compliments today, but she does love to see them happy for it.]
And you make it sound like I'm a lost lamb, Mr. Rogers. I can take care of myself, you know.
[action]
He raises an eyebrow at her when she calls him handsome, though it's the sort of thing he's been hearing more and more lately. Steve flushes easily, but he tries not to draw any attention to it.] Thank you.
And I'm not trying to say you can't, it's just... it seems like you've been at this for a while. You've gotta remember to take a break from time to time.
[action]
[She wipes her brow with the back of her hand and gets immediately to work, beginning with the rough outline of his figure and the shape of his jaw. Goodness, she sure is painting a lot of handsome men, lately! But it's not her fault Wonderland has good taste in men.]
It's very kind of you to sit for me. I know it's not a great deal of fun.
[action]
[As a soldier, Steve is also somewhat practiced in remaining still when it calls for it. Elizabeth looks like she's working quickly, there aren't many hesitations with her pencil strokes.]
So, have you decided what you're going to do with all these portraits?
[The idea of his own likeness being hung in a gallery is still a strange one, even if Captain America memorabilia is impossible to miss back home.]
[action]
You're an artist?
[Elizabeth is working quickly. It's as if her hand has a mind of its own.]
I don't know what I'm going to do with them all. I just started and can't seem to stop.
[action]
[Then the war hit and everything changed around on Steve and now he's a soldier, but he still turns to sketching when he needs to let out some stress. Or just because he's searching for something to do with his hands.]
Yeah, I... kind of noticed. That's why you should try to get some rest after this one.
[He's going to see to it that she does, in fact.]
[action]
[Even as she spoke, her brush was moving at a quick rate.]
Rest? Mr. Rogers, I feel... [She swayed.] .. woozy. A bit. A little light-headed. [Oh dear. She's going down. How quickly can he catch?]
[action]
He's going to say as much, but that's when Elizabeth mentions that she feels woozy and just one glance at her whitened face sets Steve into motion.
He's fast, impossibly so, and so he's able to catch her before she crashes to the ground and hurts herself. Steve carries her over to the bench where he'd been seated and lays her down there, crouching next to her with genuine concern on his face.]
[action]
Elizabeth sighs and opens her eyes when she's on the bench.]
I'm so sorry; I don't know what came over me.
[action]
[Maybe Elizabeth will listen to reason now. Steve had known he wasn't worrying for no reason.]
Where's your room? [There's no space for arguing anymore, Steve is going to carry her back to her room so she can get some proper rest.]
[action]
It's on the 9th floor, room 191. But I'm sure I'll be fine if I just sit for a minute. The paint is drying in the sun. I have to get back to it.
[Just some rest and maybe a glass of water will due. She hopes she won't have to start over on the painting, but if she must, then that's what she'll do.]
[action]
[Steve can move everything inside, at least for the moment, and then return it to Elizabeth's room later on. But he would rather get her to her bed sooner rather than later, and so he doesn't worry about the painting for now, instead grabbing Elizabeth back up into his arms.
The ninth floor is pretty high, but climbing that many stories while carrying someone isn't even enough to make Steve break into a sweat.
So he carries her inside and makes for the stairs.]
Just take a nap, at least, and you can always work on the painting after that, all right?
[action]
But it's nine flights! [Yes, he is very
muscularstrong, but she has doubts he can so casually walk a person up that many stairs.] Mr. Rogers, I don't want you to hurt yourself.[action]
[It's true. Elizabeth may as well weigh nothing for all of the strain that she's putting on him. Which is none.
Steve scales the stairs at a quick pace to make his point. He's a super soldier, he's got this.]
[action]
Well, I guess I under-estimated you. Is this sort of strength normal where you come from?
[She loops her arms about his neck, but loosely so as not to put any strain on him.]
[action]
Not exactly normal, no. I was part of an experiment that enhanced things like my strength and speed to above-human levels.
[He manages to talk about it casually. It's become such an integral part of his life that he doesn't really shy away from explaining it. It's just strange, since most everyone he normally interacts with knows, thanks to his reputation.]
[action]
[At first she's concerned, but something in his tone makes her wonder.]
And that was.. okay?
[He just sounds so casual about it.]
[action]
[There's never been a moment in Steve's life where he's regretted that choice. It's true that going to war (and taking Bucky with him) had come with its host of consequences, and while he feels some guilt over that, he mainly puts the blame on not being good enough to prevent Bucky's "death."
And sure, it turns out that his own sacrificial act had been for nothing, Steve's still chewing that part over. But he would never say that he wishes he'd remained small and underdeveloped and riddled with illnesses. At least he has the power to do some good now.
Right now, that amounts to taking Elizabeth to her room, but that's still more than he would have been able to do before.]
[action]
That's commendable of you.
[And certainly, at the moment, she does appreciate his help. It looks like they've nearly made it to the 9th floor, and her room is easy enough to find.]
