hyperkinesia: (We could rule out a few places.)

one ☢ video

[ The device turns on to a man looking just a hint disheveled, but overall he looks very mild and gathered. He's taken his time to calm down by now, after all. ]

Ah, hey, so I read the... [ He lifts the pamphlet and waves it a little, though not at all dismissively. ] ... this little brochure. Very helpful, actually, so thanks to whoever wrote it. And yeah, you guessed it, I'm new.

[ It might be a little difficult to tell whether or not he's being honest in his appreciation, but this time he really is. ]

So. Parallel universes, who would've thought. Guess stranger things could've happened. [ Except not really. But it's nice to think that. ] I won't bore any of you with questions, I got the gist of it by now.

But I'd like to know if there are any experts out there, if I can pick your brain. Not just on alternate realities, but space and time traveling, wormholes, portals, pocket universes - which is what I'm assuming this all is.

[ He sets the brochure aside and rubs a hand briefly down his face. ]

Because here's the thing - how does a place like this even happen? This is tiny, unbelievably so. Even if opening a wormhole that can actually travel across different dimensions without any visible devices or power source, how can it happen with several? Because for not just one or two universes, but dozens or hundreds of them to be converging here, and from fluctuating times and points within them, this place should be... I don't know, torn into pieces, disintegrating entirely. No laws of physics can explain this, and just - you know what, just spare me the speech on how physics don't work the same way here.

[ He's trying to keep it simple for the common listener, but just in case he didn't succeed, he adds as a final thought. ] This place is impossible.

[ Not that he won't try to make some sense of it, and for now at least seeing if he can find someone who'll help him with that seems like the best option. That, and finding a quiet corner where he can stay. ]

Thanks for listening. And for answering, if you do. [ He hesitates for a moment before he finally decides to add. ] Name's Bruce Banner, by the way.

[ Not that he has a lot of hope that he'll find someone here he knows, but... well, yesterday he'd have said something like this would be hilariously impossible. So who's to say. ]

[That's almost problematic in its own way though; maybe her devotion to her job had let Tony's issues fester, but that lack of occupation combined with an acute awareness of what's to come has left her just as frustrated as she'd been back home. She's caught between awareness of how important Tony's work is, and wondering just how much time is too much.

At the moment, however, Bruce provides an excellent distraction.]
I'm still learning my way around here myself, so I'll come meet you. Has anyone explained how the dining room works to you yet?

[Or so many other things that aren't detailed on the pamphlet.]
handing: (i see what you're doing there. it's cute)

I shouldn't be too long. [The dining room she frequents several times a day, so she knows the way there very well. Added to the fact that she's headed downstairs, she doesn't expect it to take long at all.]

You've got it. You go to a table and think of what you want. It's kind of crazy how accurate it is. [She's tried to trick it a ocuple of times, but even when she thinks vague thoughts, it seems to pick up enough to match the taste to her memory.] It's both very useful and a bit creepy. Kind of like most things around here.
handing: (i am happy yes)

Oh, you will. I can't tell you how many times I tried to say something was impossible my first day here, only to be proven wrong.

[And crazy had been her word of choice thereafter. There's a pause then, Pepper forgoing the phone as she arrives on the right floor. She almost doesn't see Bruce, backed into the corner like he is, but when Pepper does spot him she's quick to walk over with a smile and an offered hand.]

Hey. It's nice to officially meet you, Bruce.
handing: (is that right?)

[Where Bruce is hesitant, Pepper's handshake is firm, with all the confidence of someone who has no fear in greeting others. She doesn't push, however, noting his discomfort even before he takes her hand, and letting go when he does.]

So, you've managed to find the dining room. [And the corner just outside it, but Pepper doesn't point that out.] Did you want to try and find anything else in particular, or were you going to wander around and just learn as you go?
handing: (you should see him drunk)

Well, if you wanted to find something, I could probably figure out how to get you there. Otherwise, we can just keep walking around. It's up to you.

[No, Pepper can imagine the library isn't high on his list of concerns. But she knows one place that might be.]

Or we can head downstairs. Tony's set up shop in the basement.
handing: (i see what you're doing there. it's cute)

good by me!

[With a grin that's all too telling, Pepper nods, turning to do just that. She knows Tony will be just as eager to have Bruce down there, already suspecting he'll have a security code in place to allow Bruce access.

Which, in her opinion, is definitely a good thing.]
