Here, here, I've got you. Take a big breath and let it out.

[he grasps Chuck's shoulders firm but gentle and works his hands from Chuck's soulders to his wrists and hands as they clench the bar.]

Dunno. Is it shooting pain or firey?

[asked as he works his hands over Chuck's arms, gentlt peeling one of his hands off the bar to hold, himself. He knows exactly how to massage this better.. Assuming it's what he thinks ks it is.]

Breathe. [he says, a soft order, hands still working over Chuck's muscles. The kid is ripped and they're hard and locked in spasm.]

It's your nerves and muscle cramp, then..It's gonna be okay you just have to breathe, c'mon.

[he lets go only as much as he has to to go around the weight bar and pull chuck up to a sitting position, instructing him to breathe, fingers coaxing his muscles out of their freeze.]

I know, it sucks.. I know exactly how much it hurts.

[he can cure the cramp first, that much he knows. Manipulate Chuck's hands and arms and stretch then against his own body. Press and push and massage nice and hard until the muscles relent..

As for the nerves.. They have to wait that out too but hopefully his cramps going will help that too. Big breaths, pain management, Raleigh speaking slowly and counting the seconds for each breath to give chuck something else to focus on. Hands solid on Chuck. Breathe-1-2-3-4, out-1-2-3-4. Again. Again. Again.]

[They don't speak for a while. Just breathe, and this time it's Raleigh watching like a hawk, taking in every little feature, every twitch, every movement. He looks at Chuck. Something he hadn't really done before. Notices his freckles and the blend of colors in his eyes. Notices the red of his skin and his muscles sitting prone and puffed up, veins raised as the works through the pain.

Please, he thinks. Please don't let this be what he thinks it is.]

..better?

Still hurts? [zeroed right in on him, hands resting on Chuck's shoulders.]

Just gotta breathe through it. Or.. You wanna try getting some air? It's cold out.. Wanna go to the clinic?

[it's a testament to how he's dealt with this, himself, that he mentions the clinic last and as an afterthought. But he keeps his hands on Chuck to keep him focused. Keep him breathing.]

Maybe someone can help..

Okay.. C'mon, get up. [They're only on the first floor. Raleigh helps Chuck up and guides him out and down the hall and stairs like a sheepdog, staying very close to his side and opening any doors they come to. He k kws hiw fuckig hard it can be just to raise his arm and grasp a doorknob, he's not going to make Chuck touch anything if he can help it.

Get him down into the main hall and out onto the cold front steps. Cold breeze winding it's way through the chilly, winter air. Cold but not unbearable.]

Talk to me..

[Raleigh slowly sits beside him on the steps, concern written all over him.]

Can't say for sure.. Probably just a muscle cramp? Spasm? They're awful..

[softly as not to spook him.]

[A beat.]

What we've been through.. It's a lot. A physical reaction is normal.

[he's decided not to scare the poor kid right off the bat. It might just be stress, after all.]

Just stress. [keep saying it and it will be true.]

Keep an eye on it.. If it becomes a pattern then we'll see the doctor. Yeah?

[Not you, but we. Together.]
