third dream | video.
[ bran's experience on the mirror side had been an altogether unpleasant one, but that's not what he speaks to the network with, today. he looks sad, almost, brows drawn together, hands buried in the wolfskin cloak that so often finds its way around his shoulders. bran nods his head in greeting, and then asks, quietly, though not focused on the camera. ]
Is there a way for one's...mirror and themselves to exist at the same time, in the same place?
[ he saw summer, he watched the wolf through the mirror, and had no way of getting to him. even trying to warg from across the glass failed--he was rejected, as if something was wrong. bran understands little about wonderland and less about the so called mirrors, only that he dreamt of a sword and then suddenly the mansion was abuzz.
that's all he has, though, the only question. he must be reunited with summer again somehow. bran's quiet for just a second longer, before he ducks his head and adds a little more. ] That is all, thank you.

-- Why? Are you alright?

I saw Summer. [ quietly so. ] He is the other part of my greensight, and has been my companion since he was a pup.

Or.
Wait, how do you mean?

he does. he really does. ] I...don't only have the greensight. At night, I had dreams of becoming a wolf, for a very long time, as if I were Summer, instead of simply walking beside him. He and I were one and the same, and it was Jojen who told me that I was able to do that, both inside of my dreams and in the waking world.
I'm...a warg, and I'm able to do such things now. [ he swallows, feeling a little jittery and nervous, and clutches at the handles of his chair just outside of the video feed. ] Even here in the mansion, I have done so, though only with a boar.

--But not cool that Summer's there for your mirror, and not you. [ ... wait ] Is Summer your mirror?

I believe so, my lady. [ he fingers at the wolf pelt around his shoulders for a moment, rubbing his fingers into the fur as he tries to explain what jojen and meera had told him many a time before. ] It is possible that...if a warg stays for too long in the mind of a beast, then they'll become one. I know little of the mirrors, but from what I have learned, then, he could be me, as I am often him.
[ just...gone wrong. ]

[ she can tell he's not compleeeetely comfortable talking about this, and she doesn't blame him for it, not really. it's hard to wrap your head around, especially if there's some part of you that's genuinely curious about your mirror counterpart, when you probably shouldn't be. she knows cause she feels the same. ]
There was a risk of my mind sort of- rejecting my powers, when I took my oath. I think that's what happened to my mirror. The spirit didn't settle like it did with me, it just- completely messed up her mind. Not that it sounds like Summer is a "worst case scenario" for you, but it could be, you know? Anything that makes you lose your sense of self is a little bit worst-case.

[Al chews his lip.] There...was also the time that roots were trying to destroy the whole mansion, and if you got hurt by them your mirror self was put in your head with you. That's not quite the same thing, but it's still relevant, I think.

Well, that's my guess, at least.
video;
[ he knows his own answer, he knows a plethora of answers, but he's curious to hear which is Brans. ]
video;
[ he can almost fathom why, though he understands only what Jojen has told him about the mirrors, and his warning is what makes nervousness well up in Bran's stomach--what he could be was shown on the other side of the mirror, a warg who lost his humanity. ]
video;
Do you mean that your mirror had Summer, or that he was?
video;
those who had been of his family--they were the right people. were they not? ] I was often warned that if I spent too much time warged with Summer, I would not be able to return to myself.
[Video]
[She presses her lips together as she thinks back to last Halloween. What happened then wasn't quite what Bran was asking about, but still worth noting.]
Sometimes, they co-exist. Not equally, but there was an incident where some Mirrors came over to this side and took over the bodies of their Reals. We could still see and hear everything, but they were in control.
[Video]
I just need to get to him, Jo. [ softly. ] We've never been apart, not since I found him.
[Video]
[Sorry, Bran, she'll need some clarification on that one, despite her retaining her memories of being your sister. Apparently, wargs never came up.]
You've never been apart from your Mirror?
[That doesn't make any sense at all from where she's standing.]
I feel like I missed something here.
[Video]
[ his gaze flickers away for a second, and bran swallows. it's not like he's afraid, but it's strange to say these things out loud. ] I've thought that maybe seeing Summer--these mirrors are supposed to be ourselves, are they not?
[Video]
[It seems like a reasonable enough guess, with the information she's been given, but his world always sounds so strange to her that she can't always be sure what conclusions to draw.]
Summer's your wolf. [She says it just for confirmation -- she remembers that much from their fabricated lives together.] The Mirrors are reflections of us, but they're not who we really are. They're some twisted version of us instead. Did you think your Mirror was--
[Oh.]
Is it Summer?
[Video]
Once, Jojen told me that if I warged too often, I would never return to being human. [ it hadn't sounded like such a bad thing; bran's wolf dreams were what made him the happiest, more than anything in his real existence did. ] Does that sound as if it were a mirror?
[Video]
[All she knows about them is what Bran's told her, after all.]
It's possible, I guess -- for your Mirror to be something that could have happened to you, but didn't. If that's the case, mine isn't quite like yours, but-- it's like if things went just a little differently back home, she's who I could have been.
