[ cora's going to make this nice and quick. after experiencing a normal life as a teenager, sans the canines, and having a repeat performance as herself, cora's beginning to feel a little on edge. as there's no alphas to hunt down and try and lure into a violent dance, cora's had to make do with herself — and similarly to how she feels about being stripped down to the bare essentials that come with being human, she's angry about it. nothing feels enough. nothing ever is enough. not while she's here, not while she has time to actually stop running and fighting. ]

Is there a gym? Getting tired of running outside. Sticks and stones.

[ may not break her bones but they sure as hell bruise as badly as being human and liking it does. running out in the woods isn't punishing enough, unfortunately. even if she wished for a silver bar in her room, it seems to disappear each time cora wakes up. it's as if her own room won't allow her to work herself to the bone. ]

I need a sparring partner. Prefer it to not be Thumper.

[ there's too many rabbits out in the woods. she's not going to bother asking any takers?. ]

There's some classes you could take, if that's your kinda thing. I've been organizin' the self defense side of those. And I'm happy to spar, if you want. Might have to go easy on me, if you've got any powers, though.

[Weird how she'd normally be the one pulling punches on a girl like this.]

I'm not big on exams.

[ cora's heard about the school idea, having spoken to the principal himself before she had detoured the conversation into one of hunting and the monsters that go bump in the night. she's still uncertain if she even wants to be a part of it, thinking of it as a dumb idea in wonderland, for those who go home remember nothing about this place. it's all a waste of time, even though cora finds herself putting most of her energy in the very few relationships she has here. ]

[ potato, tomato — apparently she can pick and choose what's worth it. ]

[ but what has her sending another message is the mention of powers. ]

Hand to hand. On par with self-defense.

not that i've seen
then again, i always liked taking my chances outdoors

[ something about open spaces. he doesn't like having his back against the wall or being underground. plus, all of his training has been at a camp protected by its borders, so that's a part that plays into it. ]

i've got what you might call an arena full of dummies if that helps at all

[ a kindred spirit. cora prefers the outdoors — she's always felt trapped inside four walls, afraid she'll find herself squashed within them, or burned. to know there's someone else out there doesn't make her question his own trauma, of what propels him outside rather than compels him to stay in. it's comforting, at least, to know she's not the only one who basks in the sun and the freedom it holds. ]

[ wolves use their claws and their body strength. despite having objects around to use as weapons, cora's always relied on her own body as opposed to a chair or even a weight. ]

I've never used a sword before. They're not really available for purchase in Beacon Hills.

There's a pool on one of the floors, if swimming is something you like.

[ but water is the opposite to fire, isn't it? cora's always taken to running. the land has always been kinder to wolves than water ever has — but, then again, fire and earth seem to be pals these days. ]

There's not, and it's a terrible tragedy. How can this place not have a gym? I may have to do something about it.

I don't think anyone in Wonderland really had to worry about keeping in shape. Or had the time. Too busy having tea.

[ sparring is the only word that really sticks out to her immediately, so she pretty much ignores the rest of the text message. why bother when the most important part is obviously sparring, right? and clarisse definitely could use another sparring partner. she's only just recently finding her footing with percy again, and she'd rather fight with a stranger than confront annabeth or awkwardly hang out with frank, even if he is her brother. ]

when and where

[ cora thinks now, but there's a voice inside her head that eerily sounds like derek telling her to slow down and let herself heal. but there's no bruises apparent on her body, no bones to heal, nor cuts to stitch back together. the only part of cora that needs to heal is her heart, and that hasn't stitched itself back together for a good six years and counting. ]

A few days.

[ even as she reads it over, it sounds disappointing. why ask for a partner if the date won't be the very moment she presses send? patience and cora have never gone well together. ]

Fishing at the moment. If you're pro at anything other than hand to hand, I have no experience in it.

[ Texting is for teenagers and Elijah is not a teenager. He prefers more face to face interactions. He'll use the voice portion if he needs to, but this suits him just fine. ]

Where and when?

[ she's going to stick to text. while she prefers face to face, texting allows her to, sometimes, tone down the abrasiveness of her own tone. and she likes to suss out those that take up her offer. ]
