[ Kurt doesn't often broadcast to the network, but he's a little...restless today. And curious. ]

Has anyone uh, ever tried anything or done anything here that you always wanted to do back home but never had time to?

[ When there's not an event, sometimes there's just this downtime that keeps him, personally, feeling listless and purposeless. So lately, he's tried to focus on using that time and energy towards learning something. He's been trying his hand at learning to play the guitar, though that's been slow going. ]

[ ah, yes, she's been meaning to have a chat with you kurt weller... ]

Yes and no. The most fascinating opportunities here, for me, are those that haven't yet been invented or popularized back home. I suppose it's hard to want what you don't know.

[ a beat. ]

Like nachos.

You've probably run into that a lot more than I have.

[ They're not even separated by a hundred years, but so much has changed so quickly in his lifetime, just in the last ten years alone. And then you factor in Wonderland having its own unique advances.

He raises an amused eyebrow. ]

Nachos? Big fan?

Oh, yes. [ ... ] I do love an excuse to eat with my fingers.

Who wouldn't. You seem like the chili cheese fries type, too.

[ Now that would be a sight.

But in any case - what's this? Some gentle teasing? Kurt Weller acting less than serious, and with Peggy of all people? He's clearly feeling good about a lot of things these days. ]

Chili and cheese. [ a beat. ] On chips? I must admit I'm intrigued.

Not a meal I'd recommend too often, but if you're feeling adventurous, I can whip something up.

[ He wouldn't trust the closet to do it justice, honestly. ]

In point of fact, I'm going to take you up on that offer. [ a beat. ] And today, if you don't mind.

[ she's so eager. not least of all because it's exactly what she wants -- a reason to sit with him, in person, and dig into a conversation she doesn't want to hold over the network. ]

[ Well, it's safe to say he's surprised she's taken him up on it so swiftly, though it does make him think there's more to it than just the chili cheese fries, of course. ]

Kitchen should be pretty empty this time of day.

[ And most people don't go there anyway, what with the closets and places like the diner. ]

Meet me there in ten?

Ten it is.

[ simple agreement. she knows there's nothing hidden in her enthusiasm. but -- well, she also doesn't mind kurt suspecting her motivation might amount to more than hunger. so, without any further fanfare (or even a proper goodbye) she stows away her device and takes a moment to fix her hair before leaving her room.

and so her arrival happens in a little under ten minutes. true to his word, the kitchen is nice and empty. and peggy, while she waits for him, helps herself to an orange. it doesn't matter that there'll be another meal forthcoming. she likes to snack.

she's still peeling the fruit when kurt arrives not long after her. ]

[ Kurt prides himself on being punctual, so after changing into something more presentable than sweatpants and a hoodie, he arrives at the kitchen only a minute or two after Peggy. He does take note that she's already snacking, but it just further cements the notion that they're here for a different reason. ]

Hey.

[ There's a friendly nod and a slight smile to accompany that one word. Then he gets to work, pulling the ingredients he needs from the pantry and fridge. Once everything is set out on the countertop and he starts to prep, he looks at Peggy again. ]

So I'm guessing this isn't only about eating chili cheese fries.

[ she won't rush the subject. in point of fact -- she won't rush any conversation at all. peggy waits for kurt to make his hello, she nods in return, and snacks on an orange slice while he prepares his mis-en-place.

and she does let a minor (unhappy) grin flicker over her lips when kurt makes his assumption. after she chews and swallows, she answers: ]

The food certainly won't hurt. But -- no. I was looking to bend your ear.

[ The potatoes get sliced first, then rinsed thoroughly. As he's drying them and letting the oil heat up, he's glancing up at her so they can talk. At least for now, he's multi-tasking well. ]

Everything okay?

[ So, a few thoughts run through his mind. Jane is their common connection, so he's 99% sure that's what this is about, or mostly about. But there's nothing of particular note going on with Jane at the moment - that he can think of - but there is something going on with her mirror. Has Peggy been impacted as well?

There's also the very, very slim chance this is related to something else entirely, so he's posed his question in a way that leaves it open, but also conveys his genuine concern. ]

Possibly. [ she lets her eyes drop to the work of picking pith of her orange. ] Possibly not. Hard to say, just yet.

[ which is uncomfortably vague for peggy carter's liking. it shows in her expression; she'd rather she could have come to him with something more concrete than a miserable little hunch and a whole lot of protectiveness. especially since they haven't always had the best rapport. ]

Jane's mirror contacted me. [ a beat. ] Has she contacted you?
