[ The room looks like a beach house — as it is. Ten and Finnick are dressed in shorts, with wild, vibrant prints, with Finnick wearing a loose shirt and The Doctor sporting a rather dapper find. Finnick Odair isn't quite in his underwear, but he is wearing something that suggests he hadn't opened his eyes while dressing himself this morning — and Ten doesn't look like his marvellously dressed self, either, swapping a suit for something that looks like he'd wear to a beach. Finnick wears oversized red rimmed love heart sunglasses while Ten sports a large dazzling yellow pair that swallow his entire face. Standing beside one another, they seem to bounce to very loud music playing from a stereo system in the background. ]

[ Finnick points to Ten every time he sings (quite well): ] Girl look at that body.

Girl look at that body.

Girl look at that body.

[ Normally, the Doctor might feel uncomfortable, dressed as he is, but somehow, it's not really bothering him right this second. What he and Finnick are about to do is all in good fun, and honestly, he's loving every minute of it, ridiculous clothes and equally ridiculous glasses and all. ]

[ Whenever Finnick points at him, he grins and points right back, singing his part with as much vim and vigor as he can throw into the performance: ]

I-I-I work out.

[ Finnick winks at him. ] When I walk in the spot, this is what I see —

[ And he just winks back. ] — Everybody stops and they're staring at me.

I got passion in my pants — [ Finnick points down to his crotch with an exaggerated thrust of his hips. ]

[ Ten throws back his head and laughs at Finnick's exaggerated movements. But, in the spirit of things, he manages a passable imitation as he continues with the next line: ] — And I ain't afraid to show it.

Show it, show it, show it. [ Finnick moves toward Ten and grabs his glasses from his face. He slips his own off and, one-handedly — almost poking him in the eye — he slips it back over his ears. He shoves his new pair on. Finnick now wears the yellow glasses while Ten wears the hearts. ]

[ Ten mouths a silent but clearly indignant 'oi' at Finnick, but continues on with the song, now wearing those ridiculous heart sunglasses. ]

[ Together: ] I'm sexy and I know it!

[ And Finnick gives Ten a great, big kiss on the cheek. ]

[ well, that was. . . something. ]

How long have you two been together?

[ it was magic. ]

[ finnick knows what he's asking, and while he'd love to wrap his arm around ten and say how much he adores this man, he thinks ten needs a bit of a break from all the affection. finnick can handle the public displays, but ten? he's made of softer stuff — thank god. considering what has shaped finnick into the puppet that he is today, he takes some solace in ten's embarrassment. ] A few hours. [ but while it's fun to play daft, finnick sure does love to stir the pot. ] He's something special, that Doctor.

We aren't together.

[ Blimey, but you do one song with a person, and suddenly that means the two of you are together? Humans...

The Doctor is very much resisting the urge to roll his eyes, and the sad part is, he's not sure if it's directed at Finnick or the other person.

But, with that being said, he does like Finnick as a friend and a friend only, which is why he can say: ]

Well, I don't know, you're special enough yourself.

[ And for the love of Kasterborous, do not read anything into that, Finnick, or he will have to have words with you. ]

My mistake. [ w e l p. how's he supposed to know who goes for what team around here? maybe it's supposed to be like male strippers, without the stripping. just provocative enough without meaning anything, for the ladies. or whatever it is they tell themselves. Matt's not completely convinced. ] I must have misjudged the show.

Strange, I thought it was clear enough: two friends giving a little performance for people to enjoy. I don't see what there is to be confused about.

[ It's not supposed to be like male strippers, Matt. Finnick is a friend, and that is all. ]

It was an interesting song choice.

It was, wasn't it? Never really heard that one before today, but it's definitely an interesting song.

[ Emphasis on "interesting". ]

It grabbed attention, no denying that. I think that's half the point with lyrics.

Well, that was the idea. Or at least, I think that it was.

[ Good to know that it worked. But really, it was more about having a good time than getting everyone's attention. At least, that's how the Doctor saw it. ]

Really? I would've pegged it for a chance to show off as a close second.

Well, alright, it might have had something to do with it, but I don't really like saying it exactly that way.

[ Oh, who's he kidding? He shows off sometimes, and enjoys doing it too. ]

I don't know. You seemed confident enough a few minutes ago.

What, and I don't seem confident now?

[ He's basically always confident, even in situations where the odds are stacked against him. Stating that he likes to show off would be pushing it a little. ]

I have to say you're erring on the side of humble. What did you do, throw cocky out the window on your way back to reality?

Sounds about right. [ a few hours and this is the fruit of their efforts. ] You make a cute pair.

Is that his name, or.. [ right, as if a few hours can drill that into the good ol' memory banks. ] Should I slip out before you make a love doctor reference?

[ so, that goes over and beyond finnick's head. he frowns in confusion for a moment before he's merely frowning as he mulls over matt's choice of descriptor. ] Cute isn't exactly the word I would go for …[ hint hint: it's sexy. ]

[ because the reference has gone over finnick's rather lovely head, he decides to compensate by trying to make this particular dude blush: ] There's no need to slip out when you can be a part of the production.

Was it sexy? Sorry, I was never the best at multiple choice adjectives. I always picked the one I liked best. [ and calling two dudes sexy is ehhhh. he's comfortable enough in his sexuality to think whatever and shrug, maybe even to flirt on occasion. ]

I have to admit: I am pretty boss behind the camera. [ but he doesn't want to film this. ]

[ did you direct kim k? ]

Maybe next time we'll ask you. I don't think this angle did anything for my jawline. [ he says it with such a straight face, despite trying to take the piss out of him. what's the point of not having any fun when one is clearly uncomfortable with being honest and saying the video was sexy? the sexiest thing in wonderland! ]

[ would that he could. ]

I doubt there's anything down this rabbit hole that could do you that injustice. [ hey finnick, wanna play gay chicken? ]

[ finnick preens, grinning, and so much as slips back into his capitol persona, even though that is entirely what this event has done for him — forcing him back ingot he skin he loathes to wear. he practically purrs. ] I'm glad you think so. Although, I do think the lighting didn't do any justice for me, either.

What do you prefer? There's so much to choose from. Overhead lights, spotlights, black light, colored lights. You could use a disco ball or a strobe light. What are you trying to highlight?

Soft lighting. [ it's the only way he had been able to cope with looking at himself in the mirror after spending time with one of his capitol clients. spotlights are too harsh, allowing him to see all the scars he wears, where they've ripped him open and haven't stitched him back together properly. anything soft and muted works for finnick, even in the most sarcastic of questions and that of an answer so full of preening. ] Leaves a lot to the imagination. Mystery does keep the romance alive and the audience enthralled. [ which they failed to do with their video, meant for kicks and laughs. ]

You're right. You always need a hook. [ something to keep people coming back for more and more and more, like the gluttonous beasts they were. there's not a single person that looks bad in soft lighting, which is part of the problem. you never know what you're actually going to find when you look harder. ] Some of us are better suited to capture an audience than others. It seems like it comes naturally to you.

Are you an actor?

[ and that's the reason why finnick prefers soft lighting. if he were to look upon those who use him as an object, he doubts he could ever truly rid his memory of their faces. he can't, not even with the soft lighting he tries to dim his memory to — but it's the idea that counts. ]

You could say that. [ they usually call him a preening peacock, but he thinks actor sounds almost like the job he's been forced into. he grins, amused. ] Although, if you can figure out I am one, then I mustn't be that good. [ and that's a lie — finnick may feel the desire to flex his muscles and loudly proclaim how excellent he is at acting, but, what ever happened to boasting quietly? he knows he's among one of the best. isn't that why he's survived for so long? ]

It has nothing to do with talent and everything to do with your comfort zone. You don't seem to mind being at center stage. Not everyone has the luxury of saying that about themselves. [ and for the longest time, he was one of them. hiding. keeping quiet. holding onto every ounce of negativity until his rage consumed him, consumed everyone. ] If you ask me, people could do without their need to apologize every five minutes for taking pride in themselves.
